Is there any place for peace?
They attacked us with hatred, anger, atrocities commit,
wanton killings, they murdered left and right, without mercy or restraint,
The victims cried for help, but were slaughtered, the killers would not relent.
Their crimes are atrocious, which we must not repeat.
For to be like them is surely our defeat.
Let the sword of justice fall upon them and they answer for their crime and victory be declared, Let the women and the children, the innocent all be spared.
The victims were left unprotected, their soldiers off their guard, some fast asleep, No help came, no defense, no armored car, no rescue by fighting jeep,
Our politicians were too busy planning to grab more power, to weaken our people’s freedom, the Supreme Court to defeat.
Protests rallies on the streets, our voices challenged the rulers and elite.
Then the celebrations came, we never knew the planned attack, the enemy overwhelmed us, many captured, taken hostage, many killed and thousands left to weep.
The hurt and pain remains, the suffering is enormous, the mountain of pain too steep.
We never had such shame and loss it was never seen or felt,
The loss of captives taken hostage, hidden beneath the earth.
How can they be rescued, saved and taken home,
How can the enemy be defeated, beaten, killed with the bomb and the drone?
Is the only way to take revenge, inflict punishment with vengeance and endless pain,
Bomb them all to hell, rain fire and death without mercy and the killing not restrain?
Should we continue to destroy, annihilate, crush and devastate,
and care not how many die, buried in the rubble, just kill them all and never hesitate?
Must vengeance be assuaged, with bombs and bullets raining from the skies.
This is war but is this where victory lies?
It is our right to retaliate, to strike back and make the killers pay in justice it must be felt ,
For their families, children, innocents, civilians all, must that death and pain be so widely dealt,
Must we take so many lives and plunder all their wealth?
Can we say to others, “don’t question us or challenge our just and righteous war, we continue on to victory, and extract a painful price”.
Do we need to defeat and kill them all not once or twice but trice?
Should we not question the cause in history past,
admit our sins and after victory make a just peace that will finally hold and last?
Will our voice of peace be never heard, we are marginalized and ignored,
the violent bombers rule the day,
We are in the wilderness, speaking for the innocent and never have our say.
Our rulers tell us if we beg for peace then traitors we must be,
since to wholesale slaughter of one and all we do not all agree.
“Join in the killing”, we are warned, be with us in our quest,
Or else you will suffer more, not less.
