The Dictator

I see you here, I see you there, I see you everywhere,
There is no hiding from my all-seeing eye, surveillance is my game.
I watch your text and emails, to me you are all the very  same,
I must know your every move, listen to your word,
Potential enemies, traitors, obey my laws, no matter how absurd.

I can track you and observe, identify your walk and face,
If you dare to speak against me, your speech I quickly trace,
Your name is on my national list, a suspect for me to know,
Your opinions must praise my ways or to the death squad you will go.

No mercy do I have or forgiveness for your imagined crime,
No evidence is really needed but inventiveness is my skill sublime.
You will be tried and convicted in my Kangaroo trial,
And be condemned to death by my wicked clever guile.

The people are so gullible without reflection on my many lies,
They follow me in ignorance and praise me to the skies,
They flock to hear me speak and believe in all I say,
They give me the wealth and power to plunder night and day.

So then I will control their lives, they are in my total power,
I will torture, jail, and make them beg, submit, and swiftly cower,
If they cry and protest, I will crush the critics and opponents all,
I will have my way and force them to confess, kneel and crawl.

So you think the people will see the evil that I say and do
And bring the day of justice to do what is right and true,
Rally to the streets and cry for justice, to be heard and free?
To cast me down and overthrow my rule but that day will never be.
I will fight and crush them to the painful bitter end,
They want to hold me to account, and cry, “live on in hope”,
Is that the message that they will live and send?

There is the voice that will not cease to pain my heart and mind
It calls to me in the darkest night and says,“You are weak and blind,
There is coming truth and justice, goodness will defeat your evil ways,
From your throne of pride and cruelty you will suffer in the turmoil of your last days”.
