Prayer for freedom from tyranny
Shay CullenSecret cells hold the fragile bodies, the wounded and accused,
They have no evidence but the power to torture the innocent and abused.For what, we ask, for the twisted evil pleasure of inflicting hurt and pain,
Violating rights, crushing spirits, they trample dignity and illegally detain.The prisoners they are innocent, the abusers are police, the people live in terror, and overwhelming fear.
They shiver and they cringe, they hide and run when they hear the screaming sirn, the death squad is near.The bodies of the dead are left sprawled in slums and on the street,
They have a message tagged, you are Red, a criminal and a cheat.Yet some are just teenage boys and children out of school,
But the killers know no mercy, the gun and knife their wicket tool.The days of justice, freedom and the breath of peace will come,
When the people find the courage to rise up and stand against the gun.When people speak loud and clear and cry for justice and the truth,
When the tree of life, the People’s Power, grows strong then freedom will be the fruit.
