The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, (BFAR) has struck another blow for the Philippines against the wrongful importation of illegal frozen fish to the Philippines. The successful operations were conducted off the Western seaboard of Bataan and Zambales.

The operation was directed by Region 3 Director Wilfredo M.Cruz assisted by Mr. Neil Encinarea, Provincial Fisheries Officer of BFAR Zambales and JC A. Melano, Masinloc.
The investigating officers pursued and arrested the frozen fish smugglers and confiscated a large consignment of frozen Mackerel fish.

This very successful operation by BFAR is a heavy blow to the smugglers which are reported from China. Their illegal smuggled fish damages the livelihood of Filipino fishermen and vendors. Not only have the Chinese taken over the Philippine Atolls, islands and fishing grounds of Zambales they have banned Filipinos fishing in their own waters, claimed illegally by China.

They are trying to smuggle the fish they catch into the Philippine markets.
That is being countered with strong action by BFAR and holding up the rights and dignity of the Philippines by stopping encroachments and illegal activity. End

The confiscated fish was donated to charities and children’s homes around central Luzon and Zambales.

The orphans and children at risk in shelters are benefitting from the successful activities of BFAR Director and officers and operatives. With fish being donated to charities and recorded there is no allegation of self-serving but all the BFAR operations and disposal of the confiscated fish is transparent and above board.

The Preda Foundation children are the happy recipient of 160 kilos of confiscated fish worth about 32,340.00 Pesos to feed almost 100 children in the Preda homes and shelters for needy children in Subic and Castillejos.

The distribution was welcomed and monitored by Dexter Trucilla MCS, Subic, Eileen E. Reyes, Alexandera U.Cayron, Olongapo City agricultural officers. With Jared Visperas, MCS, Subic, Danilo Alvero, MCS, Subic

There is ongoing surveillance by BFAR agents to detect more smuggling and illegal activities that harm and hurt Filipinos. With more successful operations like this the people can feel safe and their livelihoods are protected.
