Mother sentenced to 20 years in 1-year-old’s death

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A woman in South Carolina has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2017 death of her 1-year-old son.
The Post and Courier reports that Alexis Grant, 27, was sentenced Tuesday on a charge of homicide by child abuse.
She had been arrested in May 2017 in the city of North Charleston. Court records showed that the child died of blunt force trauma.
The Post and Courier reported that Grant told police that she had hit the child several times in the head in frustration, causing the child to fall. The child’s father also faces charges in connection with the death.
