DAVAO CITY – Children’s rights advocates here expressed alarm over several unresolved summary executions of teenagers and young adults suspected of theft and other petty crimes.

Data compiled by the tambaya Center, a private institution for abused children, showed that at least 13 children and young adults with ages ranging from 16 to 25 were summarily executed from February 1999 to October this year.

Taiwan: Child-sex Offenders to Feel Force of Law

TAIPEI – Taiwanese parliament has passed a new law to convict child sex tourists. The law provides for prison terms of between three and 10 years for anyone having sex with girls aged under 14. Those who have sex with girls aged between 14-16 could be jailed for up to seven years. Names and photographs of offenders will also be made public in government bulletins.
