Seven arrested by police in drug trafficking raids

Searches were carried out in Lewisham, Haringey, Croydon, Canterbury, Folkestone, Kent and Portsmouth

Seven people have been arrested following police raids involving 250 officers across south-east England.

Police believe young children from south-east London are being used by gangs to transport Class A drugs to Hampshire and Kent.

Searches were carried out in Lewisham, Haringey, Croydon, Canterbury, Folkestone, Kent and Portsmouth.

The Met Police said the raids, carried out at 05:00 BST, were a “clear message” to criminals.

A large quantity of of crack cocaine and £1,500 in cash was also seized from an address in Canterbury.

The seven have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, inciting supply of class A drugs, child trafficking and money laundering.
