A south-east Queensland scout leader has been released on bail after facing court charged with producing child exploitation material and indecent treatment of a child.

Brock Emil Dittman, 30, from West Ipswich, west of Brisbane, appeared in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today on 26 child exploitation offences.

Dittman was targeted in a covert operation run by the state’s Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

He was arrested on Sunday when officers from the CCC’s criminal paedophilia team, Cerberus, and the Queensland Police executed a search warrant at his house.

The CCC alleged Dittman, an active scout leader, had been using the internet to access and make available child exploitation material.

The court heard officers seized a number of cameras, computer equipment and electronic storage devices.

It was alleged the devices contained child exploitation material.

Other charges include three counts of possessing child exploitation material, five counts of using a carriage service to make available child pornography material, and three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

Dittman was granted bailed to appear in court again next month on the condition he report twice weekly to police, that he avoid contact with the complainant and their parents.

He must also stay 50 metres from cub scout facilities or members, and have no unsupervised contact with any children under 16.
