A raid has uncovered drug lords ‘living like kings’ in luxury cells with stripper bars and jacuzzis at the Philippines’ main prison. The sex, drugs and bribery scandal has shocked a country inured to tales of official corruption.
The revelations were headline news Tuesday, a day after police commandos swooped on the infamously crowded Bilibid prison complex to verify reports drug rings were operated from behind bars.

“Justice for the killing of Francisco Canayong. Stop extra-judicial killing”, Philippine Misereor Partnership said in a statement seeking government’s immediate investigation of the killing of an anti-mining activists in Salcedo, Eastern Samar. Canayong, was stabbed to death in broad daylight on 1 May 2012 by an unidentified assailant. He is a known active anti-mining activist opposing the mining operations in Salcedo.
