Lisbon Lions John Fallon and Charlie Gallagher donated a retro Celtic jersey signed by 13 of the Lisbon Lions squad to the Philippines based children’s charity PREDA in 2010. With the Inter Milan games in mind John and Charlie decided that the it was the best time to auction the jersey on Ebay.

The Celtic legends hope that this extremely rare jersey will sell for a good price as all the proceeds will be used to help Irish priest ,Fr. Shay Cullen, and his team rescue children from adult prisons and child exploitation in the Philippines. Irish music legend, Sharon Shannon of “The Galway Girl” fame was delighted to support this worthy cause as she has done a lot of work for PREDA in the past.

The jersey is signed by the following Celtic icons:

John Fallon
Jim Craig
Tommy Gemmell
John Clark
Charlie Gallagher
John Hughes
Stevie Chalmers
Joe McBride
Bobby Lennox
William Wallace
Billy McNeill
Bertie Auld
Willie O’Neill

Sharon Shannon also was involved with the “Freedom Day” photography competition where she visited the school of one of the winning photographers.

The idea for PREDA’s “Freedom Day” came about as a result of a conversation between Philip Cribbin, chairperson of PREDA Ireland (in a voluntary capacity) and Colm O’Brien, MD of Ireland’s leading school lunch suppliers Carambola Healthy School Lunches Delivered. In order to make International Human Rights Day on December the 10th more meaningful it was agreed that a “Freedom Day” photography competition would be launched among primary and secondary schools to see what “Freedom” meant to the children of Ireland. IMS Online marketing company kindly supported the online development of the project.

The prizes for the four winning entries was a visit to their class by one of the following leading personalities: musicians Damien Dempsey and Sharon Shannon, triple marathon winner Catherina McKiernan and Carambola Kidz ambassador and former world welterweight champion Bernard Dunne.

A big thanks to Sharon for being so giving of her time and support and to the creativity of film maker Glen Gannon for producing and editing Sharon’s visit.
