'Wonderland' Trials

In 1998, 107 people were arrested in 12 countries following police raids on a child pornography and paedophile network operating via the Internet. Prospective members had to provide 10,000 sexually explicit images of children to belong to the network, known as the Wonderland Club.
Three Australians who were involved in the Wonderland network have been prosecuted and a fourth is currently facing trial. All those prosecuted received minimal sentences. One man possessed up to 160,000 images, yet the 2 year suspended sentence he received was appealed and he is now serving 18 months in jail.
Only 17 of the 1260 victims in the Wonderland archives have been identified.
