Teenager tells cops of stripping for web sex chat that turns into extortion

A 19-year-old student stripped naked during a cyber chat with a young woman who then threatened to upload his pictures on the internet if he did not cough up HK$3,000.
The teenager, who lives in Sha Tin, told police he engaged in a web chat at 2am yesterday with a Filipino woman whom he met online.
The two were chatting online when the woman suggested they switch on their webcams and chat with each other in the nude.
The teen said he was surprised by her suggestion but could not resist giving it a try.
As they stripped, their video chat degenerated into profane exchanges and bad internet sex, police said.

The woman also requested the youth to touch himself and make sexually suggestive movements. He said he again complied because he did not find the situation suspicious.
He realized that he had been duped only when the woman suddenly turned off her webcam, and typed a message that she had taken pictures of him the whole time. She then demanded that he transfer HK$3,000 into her bank account.
The teenager told his family about the episode and they called the police.
The officers have tried contacting the woman online, but to no avail.
Officers said they have taken away the youth’s computer and will approach his internet service provider in an attempt to trace the woman’s location and discover her identity.
The young man likes to chat online and spends hours in front of the computer after school. He logs onto various chatrooms to talk to friends and strangers alike.
The youth told officers that he became acquainted with the woman through an online chatroom some time ago and exchanged intimate messages with her.
The police said a similar incident happened last month when a man in his 20s was extorted out of HK$1,000 by falling for the same ruse employed by a woman with a Japanese name.
Police tracked her bank account to a place in the Philippines.
Law enforcers said there is a possibility that these two cases are related. They said they would carry out an investigation to see if they are part of an international scam.
