Bail granted to suspect Rainer Fahrenhorst

Dear Hon. Undersecretary Ma. Merceditas Gutierrez,

This is in reference to the case of child sexual abuse in Puerto Galera, Mindoro committed by suspects Paul Jeffrey Anderson, 55, American and Rainer Utz Fahrenhorst, 61, German. I am enclosing the affidavit of three of the victims who are presently housed at the DSWD Bahay Tuluyan Center in Dasmarinas, Cavite.

Two of the victims are under the age of 12 and therefore bail should have been vigorously opposed by Prosecutor Dorina Joya. Despite the strong evidence in the initial statement of the two minors under 12, we learned that the prosecutor did not use this evidence against the suspects, according to our sources.

We at PREDA and the entire NGO community protecting children request an explanation on the two points: why bail was not vigorously opposed and why the evidence of the two minors under 12 was not used to press charges against the accused.

Yours sincerely,
