RESOLUTION CONCERNING ENVIRONMENT
Series of 2000
Whereas, AKBAY (Aksyon ng Kabataan at mga Bata para sa Bayan), is a non- profit, non-stock Youth Organization in Zambales and Olongapo City;
Whereas, AKBAY strongly commends the province and the City as well in their presentation and promotion of ecotism;
Whereas, AKBAY fully commits itself to the beneficial endeavor of protecting the environment in as much as Zambales and Olongapo as a whole is gifted with beautiful beaches, green forests, majestic mountains and a land of gentle people;
Whereas, AKBAY is deeply concerned about the implementation of the environmental protection law, all prohibitions and other provisions should be strictly allowed.
THEREFORE, the AKBAY members in its pursuit to fully enhance, promote and preserve Eco-Tourism do hereby recommend the following;
1.) That Local Government Unit concerned be diligent and responsible in the evaluation and proper monitoring of public and private beaches in the latter role of maintaining clean and safe water and litter free beaches.
2.) That the existing reforestation projects of each municipality be well monitored and see that all efforts will not be in vain and that the projects are implemented.
3.) That the observance of all environment laws with regards to industries, technologies be enforced.
4.) That all Local Government Units in their respective communities initiate and enforce Comprehensive Solid Waste Management, Recycling and Waste Segregation System.
5.) That the LGU should implement a quality water monitoring system and regularly assess water quality; thus there is a need for waste water treatment for the benefit of the people in the jurisdiction of Zambales-Olongapo.
6.) The DENR should adhere to strict implementation procedures and processes concerning the issuing of Environment Clearance Certificate or approving Business Corporation Permits.
7.) Prohibits illegal fishing by closely monitoring of activities along our coastal areas.
8.) Strictly enforce all laws regarding endangered species & wildlife protection.
NOW THEREFORE, we the Environment Commission as active members of Zambales-Olongapo Children & youth Organization - AKBAY believe that the above mentioned petition should be taken prior consideration and given would be implemented.
RESOLVE FURTHER, that the copies of the resolution be furnished and forwarded to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to give full attention to this petition.
