Children in Prison, PREDA Para -legal and human rights workers succeed in getting children released from dungeon-like prisons where they are detained frequently without being charged.
The Provincial Jail in Iba, Zambales was revisited on August 15, 2002. The Jail Rescue Team found a minor 17 years of age detained for subversion. The team provided legal assistance.
Two minors 14 and 16 of age, released from jail immediately after the jail rescue operation by the PREDA Jail Rescue Team.
Three minors were detained for a longer time, arrested without warrant and detained in a cell with over 20 adult prisoners.
PREDA Helps secure the release of the children in jail by contacting the DSWD and the court Judges to have them at least be transferred to rehabilitation center while their cases are pending or by following up their stagnant cases in court
The minors' cell is located underground hence its not well-lit and well-ventilated.

The PREDA Jail Rescue Team together with the Jail Warden during a Jail visit conducted in Benguet. The rescue team goes around different regions to save minors in jail, provide legal assistance & augment their basic needs. 

The newly-built district jail is 2 months in operation now. The women & children inmates were transferred there from the Benguet Provincial Jail

The Benguet City Jail holding more than 30 minors ages 12 to 17 years old.

Most minor inmates of the Benguet City Jail are actually coming from the farther provinces of the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR).
