Saving Children
Rescuing children and youth from brothels and domestic abuse.
The widespread sexual abuse of children needs immediate standby response and rescue of child victims in dire circumstance. These can be children trapped in sex slavery in brothels or in the power of pimps or their paedophile abusers whether strangers, neighbors or relatives or a parent.
The Preda legal and social worker team answers every call immediately and taps into a network of NGOs and police contacts to verify any report of abuse and take the appropriate action to intervene and rescue the child and bring that child into a safe protected home environment.
The Residential care home for girls is complete with a therapeutic recovery programme with emotional expression therapy and family therapy counseling. It builds up the childs self-esteem, confidence and personal dignity. It empowers them to stand for their rights and seek justice. There is also formal and non-formal education provided, values formation, based on affirmation and mutual respect. A new girls home is under construction.
RESCUING CHILDREN IN JAILS AND DETENTION CENTERS.
The Preda team has built up contacts and liaison with social workers in several municipalities and cities in Central Luzon and offers the legal and therapeutic services for children in conflict with the law. 95% are boys 15 to 17 year of age. Girls in detention or apprehended by the authorities are referred top the Preda home for Girls.
The Preda “rescue” team visits jails and works on the cases of children and minors in conflict with the law who are detained awaiting preliminary investigation or on trial. The Preda social workers advise on the legal action to be taken by the referring government social workers to have the court transfer the youth from the subhuman conditions of prisons to the New Dawn Preda Center in the Zambales countryside . Youth are referred from all over central Luzon.
The project provides free of charge residential care in the center with therapeutic activities, trainings, non-formal education, skilled training, home visits, and legal assistance to have their case dismissed or settled The youth are living in an beautiful modern home center without guards or fences and they are persuaded to stay of their own free choice. As many as 94% choose to do so and participate in the character formation programme. There is family therapy and reconciliation and then eventual family and community reintegration and follow up care.
