Children from Preda welcomed to Christianity

Five children, including two babies three and four months old, from the Preda home for Girls received the sacramental rites of baptism as Father Donal O'Dea poured water on their head welcoming them to Christianity. The celebration was held last Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Baretto, Olongapo City , Philippines.
The babies were born to two clients of the Preda Children's Home who were impregnated as a result of the sexual abuse they suffered. The young mothers are now empowered and seeking justice and do not blame the babies for their fate. Instead they love and nurture them as a responsible young mother would.
Preda staffers stood as sponsors or
godparents to the children that will serve as guide, family and counselors
to them. The children, staffers and guests shared a simple meal after the
ceremony. end.
