Justice Department Employee Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography

A Justice Department employee avoided jail recently after pleading guilty to possessing and making child pornography.  James Allan's six-month custodial sentence was wholly suspended for 18 months.  Police were first alerted to Allan's activities after 3 teenagers who had seen the pornographic images while burgling his house, alerted the police.  In sentencing Allan the magistrate said that "many of the images were of third world children who would be less likely to be abused if people like Allan did not enjoy the results of their misery".  Herald Sun 21/2/02
