Being the youngest cluster, Central Luzon is likewise very enthusiastic with their organizational building and strengthening. PMP Central Luzon Conducts
IP Project Proposal Write shop

by Ms. Josefina Marabe-Maranon,
PREDA Documentation Officer

The conduct of Indigenous People (IP) Project Proposal Write shop held on March 4-5, 2004 at SACOP, Maimpis, Pampanga, is one of the concrete outputs of the IP Forum on Peace and Development initiated by the PMP Central Luzon cluster in October 2003. It aimed to effectively address some identified issues confronting our IP brothers and sisters. There were 12 participants representing the 6 member organizations of PMP CL. The Core Staff of PREDA, Ms. Fina Marabe - Maranon and Mr. Donard Angeles facilitated the workshop. They also presented a logical framework which shall serve as the anchor of the possible components of the project proposal. The participants have likewise discussed and critiqued this logical framework. During the workshop, Christopher "Butog" Domulot, a youth leader of LAKAS has also shared some concrete experiences being an IP. His sharing was very crucial in developing the possible programs and services for the IP.

This initiative is undertaken by the PMP CL Cluster as a response to the Key Result Areas of PMP at the national level, which coincide with realities and clamor of the IPs in Central Luzon as they are vulnerable to militarization phenomenon. Earlier this year, we have received numerous reports regarding abuses inflicted on IP. PMP CL mitigating measures were conducted and have facilitated strong coordination with the concerned government agencies.
