Lies about weapons of Death Shame the West

THE US
and other western intelligence communities are as sophisticated as you
can get.
They
have state-of-the-art technology that can monitor communications
anywhere in the world. Together with informants on the ground, the
experts knew Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mss destruction – pure and
simple.
Declaring
war on the premise that Saddam intended to develop WMDs does not a
single WMD make. Many other nations have the same desire but that is no
justification to invade and occupy them.
The real experts in the intelligence community have been blamed, excluded and gagged and one, David Kelly, was so pressured and publicly shamed he took his own life.
As the leader of the search for WMD David Kay told a US senate committee recently: “We were all wrong”. There were no terrible weapons as we were led to believe by the pro-war propaganda.
There was
no justifiable pretext for a preemptive invasion and war of aggression
against a sovereign nation. While there were no WMDs, there was oil,
lots of it. Iran had nuclear weapons, Libya had WMDs ready to go and
North Korea was firing missiles into the sea of Japan yet they were not
invaded.
Diplomacy
worked to curb Iran and disarm Libya, not brute military force. Now Bush
and his supporters try to justify the war by saying it was necessary to
get rid of Saddam because he was a brutal dictator. There were and still
are many brutal dictators, worse than Saddam, who have not been invaded
and removed.
Countless
coups and regime changes have been engineered by the CIA in times past
but their expertise was to install dictators, not remove them. They
could have got rid of Saddam by other means if he had not been such a
help to the US when he invaded Iran in the 1980s.
Then he became a liability and he had to be got rid of. The CIA
were not up to it, the first Gulf war stopped short and Bush decided to
finish the job and invade. The war has caused death and destruction.
More than 500 US troops, as well as dozens of British and allied
soldiers have been killed and thousands of Iraqis were sent to their
dusty graves under a rain of guided missiles, shells and cluster bombs.
It won’t
stop until there are fair elections and the coalition forces withdraw.
The war was for democracy says Bush but now the US says it wants only
selected candidates that they approve of.
The majority of Iraqi people want and deserve a free election, not a fixed selection.
