To the PREDA Foundation congratulations for the unveiling
of the giant photo-mural and the opening of the new Preda Home for Children
and Youth in Conflict with the Law!
The unveiling of the giant photo-mural is also the
unveiling of the bravery of Pia Corvera for exposing her foreign abuser and
the predicaments of children victims of sex tourism. Pia Corvera is now not
only a child that advocates for her right but also a child that advocates
for other children's rights. In her crisis, she has become stronger not only
for herself but also for other children victims.
The opening of the new Preda Home for Children and Youth
in Conflict with the Law is like opening new beginnings for children who
have come across the juvenile justice. Most of the children who have one way
or another contested the laws, it is most likely because of poverty. Under
the circumstances it is just reasonable to give children their second
chances. It will be unfair and against their rights to lock them up with
common criminals and end up as one.
The children who have become "prostituteds" and have been
in conflict with the law are all victims because of the economic and social
conditions of our society. For now, we try our very best to give the
children victims the assistance they need. The Preda Home is a symbol of
starting anew and the photo-mural is a symbol of the unwavering commitment
for the realization of children's rights. For the celebration of
International Children's Day, we hope that the day would come when there
would be no more Pias who are victims of abuse but Pias who are inspirations
of courage; we hope for a society free of poverty and injustice, instead, a
society that is conducive for a child's development and productivity.
Again, From SALINLAHI Foundation, an alliance for children's concerns, CONGRATULATIONS to PREDA Foundation for the continuing advocacy for children's rights!
