ANGELES CITY-The National Bureau of Investigation charged two foreign
nationals for employing minors as dancers and prostitutes in at least two
bars on Fields Avenue, this city’s red light district
Australian Terrence George Mathews and American Thomas Glenn Jarrell were
charged with the law protecting Filipino children against exploitation and
discrimination, a joint affidavit of arrest by NBI agents showed.
Mathews and Jarrell operated the Fantastic and G-Spot nightclubs here,
respectively.
The charges also included four Filipino women identified as Editha Araquel,
Rea de la Cruz, Shirley Delbo and Rita Samudio.
The women, according to the affidavit, managed the two bars.
The charges were filed after eight NBI agents, - assisted by Gary Shaw and
Michael Harris, investigative specialists from the International Justice
Mission, raided five bars on Fields Avenue last Nov. 28.
The raids rescued at least eight girls whose ages range from 13 and 17 years
old.
Lawyer Samuel Fiji, NBI director in Central Luzon, said the foreigners and
the four women bar managers have been out on bail since last week.
The girls were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and
Development.
