ONE thousand members of the public are being asked to supply their
photographs, names and addresses for a "cyber gallery" on the Jubilee
Campaign website to mark their disgust at child prostitution.
Mark Rowland from the Jubilee Campaign which is launching the scheme with Fr Shay Cullen said: "We got the idea from the News of the World publishing pictures of suspected paedophiles. This is a whole army of people doing the reverse."
The material will be sent as a photo petition to the UN.
Every participant will be called a 'Guardian Angel' and receive an
action pack from the Jubilee Campaign, containing briefing papers on the sex
slave trade and suggestions on how to fight it.
Fr. Cullen, who has been nominated for the Nobel peace prize for his 27-year
fight for children’s rights in the Philippines, made a flying visit to
Britain to launch the initiative at the Greenbelt Christian festival last
weekend.
He said: "I daily see children who need a Guardian Angel to watch over
them. This campaign aims not
only to educate people about the horrors of the sexual exploitation of
children but also give an opportunity to take specific and direct action."
