Campaigning statement of the Association of Religious Women and
Men in the Philippines
Dear Sir,
I am deeply concerned about the campaign of the bar and brothel owners of Olongapo city to stop the good work of PREDA Foundation and to deport Fr. Shay Cullen, it's director.
PREDA Foundation has fought for the rights of children and the youth for the past 26 years and has campaigned against sexual abuse of children since 1982.Naturally the bar and brothel owners have been affected.
Fr. Cullen's work has been recognized abroad. He will receive this year a Human Rights award from the City of Weimar, Germany. He has the great honor also of having been nominated for the Nobel Prize.
I am therefore greatly surprised and shocked to hear that a child-abuse case (previously twice dismissed in court), has again been filed and a warrant of arrest issued against Fr. Cullen.
Believing in your honor and integrity, I appeal to you to:
1. Order a just speedy and impartial review of the new evidence presented by PREDA, showing that the accusations are false and fabricated.
2. Facilitate a new resolution dismissing the charges against Fr. Cullen.
On behalf of abused children of Olongapo City, I know you will continue to
uphold the high standard of the Department of Justice under your guidance.
